Effie E. Whitney Effie E. Whitney, 89, of Ovett, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Jones County,with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Justin Cameron and Rev. Jim Taylor will officiate. She was retired from Reliance Manufacturing and was a homemaker. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Jones County. She was preceded in death by two husbands, R.L. Jackson and Howard Whitney. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Beth Jackson of Patterson, La.; a daughter and son-in-law, Zella and Howard "Moose" Landrum of Ovett; three grandchildren, Kim Jackson of Dallas, Texas, Christa Butler of Laurel and Bruce Landrum of Columbus; two sisters, Ouida George and Vernie Gardner, both of Spartanburg, S.C.; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tom Flynt, Kim Jackson, Bruce Landrum, Wesley Butler, Johnny Dunnam and Roger Oliver. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. today, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel,which is in charge of arrangements.
