Southport doctor Harold R. Wirey succumbs at 63
Services for Dr. Harold R. Wirey, 63, a Southport physician, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Singleton and Herr Madison Avenue Mortuary, with calling from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
He died Friday in his home.
Dr. Wirey had practiced medicine 26 years in Southport and was on the staff of St. Francis Hospital Center.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Phi Rho medical fraternity, the American and Indiana State medical associations and the Marion County Medical Society.
Dr. Wirey was a 1954 chemical engineering graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, and a 1959 graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis.
He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Born in Lawrence County, Ill., he had lived in Indianapolis 30 years.
Survivors: wife, Charlotte Aley Wirey; daughters, Suzanne Matkins and Marsha Winterrowd; four grandchildren.
