WILLIAM C. ANDERSON

The body of William C. Anderson, who passed away at his home in Mulvane, Kansas, last Sunday, July 12, 1914, was brought to Geneseo for interment, arriving here Tuesday morning, the remains being accompanied by the widow, daughter, Jessie, and a brother of the deceased, John W. Anderson. The body was taken to the Pink Prairie cemetery, in the old home neighborhood, for interment. Rev. F. E. Shult, of Geneseo, officiated at the grave.
William C. Anderson was born in Paterson, N. J., (I believe he was born in Phenix Twp. Henry Co., IL. or possibly Rock Island County, IL.)on February 14, 1847. He came west with his parents when he was ten years of age,(According to Jerusha's obituary they came to Rock Island Co. in 1844 & lived there 10 years before moving to Henry Co., IL.) the family locating on a farm north of Geneseo. Here he grew to manhood. In 1867 he was married to Miss Elain (Lany)McCliman. One child, a daughter, was born to this union, now Mrs. Carrie K. Ohde, of California. In 1879 Mr. Anderson was married to Miss Celia J. Meader, and to this union six children were born, four of whom survive. In 1892 he was married to Carrie M. Ross, of Campus, Ill., who survives him.
In April, 1899, Mr. Anderson moved with his family to Kansas, locating on a farm near Mulvane. Here they lived until 1908, when they moved into Mulvane, and there his death took place..
The deceased was an upright citizen, a devoted husband and father, a kind neighbor and friend, and above all else, a devout Christian. He realized that the end was approaching, but he met it unflinchingly, his faith in the God he had loved and served robbing death of its sting and the grave of its horror.
Besides the widow and children referred to above, the deceased is survived by five brothers and one sister, as follows: John W., of Mulvane, Kansas; Charles K., of East Moline; S. Douglass, of California; George W.., of Geneseo, and Mrs. May Hanna, of Moline.
Charles K. Anderson and wife, of East Moline, came to Geneseo to be present upon the arrival of the remains and the accompanying relatives.
