Shawnee resident Josie Lavada Ellison, 79, died Tuesday, July 10, at a local nursing home.
She was born in April 25, 1928, in Asher to Wilburn Masters and Pearl (Lowden) Masters.

Josie attended and graduated from Asher High School.

On July 10, 1948, she married Willie Lea Ellison. He preceded her in death. After his death she married Vernon Ellison in July 1983.

She was a homemaker and housewife and a member of Sharon Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her church, visiting with friends, and singing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one infant son, Ted Allen Ellison and her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two children, Trudee and Jerald Berry of Shawnee, and Tracey and Nancy Ellison of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Autumn Berry, James and Rachelle Ellison, Brad Berry, Norma Guerra, and Rick Diaz; five great-grandchildren, Sonya, Madison, Dominique, Jasmine, and Emma.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery.
