Grace Lundeen, child of God and daughter of William and Grace (Siebenga) Weidenaar was born January 13, 1924 in Owatonna, Minnesota. Grace joined a large family consisting of six older sisters and two older brothers. When she was a toddler the family moved to Long Siding, Minnesota and shortly upon settling in the large farmhouse, another sister was born completing the Weidenaar family with ten children. Grace attended the Greenbush country school in Mille Lacs County. In 1935 the family bought a farm in the Lewis Lake community and Grace continued attending school nearby and helping her mother and father on the farm.
In 1947 her brother, Elkie bought a farm in Grass Lake Township. Her mother thought Elkie should have someone to cook and clean for him so she sent Grace to move in with her brother. Grace and Elkie were contented roommates until he met his future wife at the First State Bank of Braham. Soon wedding bells rang for Elkie; and Grace moved back home. In time she convinced her parents to allow her to move to the big city of Minneapolis. Her parents agreed but with the stipulation that she not take up smoking. Grace was determined not to marry a farmer.
Upon arriving in Minneapolis Grace found a job and a place to live. This was quite a change from the Lewis Lake farm. She developed friendships through work and took a couple of trips with girlfriends to various states. Grace loved to dress up, wear jewelry and makeup and what better place to get dolled up but for a dance. She and her friends loved dances. One particular evening a man approached her for a dance. He was fresh out of the army; good looking and a good dresser. Grace was impressed. She left the dance with her friends and went home. This young man wasn't about to let Grace slip through his fingers. He found out where she lived. Wes Lundeen pursued Grace. On January 14, 1955 Grace and Wes were married at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They eventually settled and lived in Bloomington for many years. Grace worked for the Honeywell and Control Data corporations for most of her working years. In 1968 Grace and Wes adopted Todd when he was just six weeks old. Although Grace became a mother at the age of 44, she proved to be a natural. She was a wonderful loving mother and wife.
Following retirement, Grace and Wes left Bloomington for Mora to be closer to Grace's sisters. Due to failing health, the couple moved to assisted living at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge and eventually to Ecumen Parmly LifePointes in Chisago City. Following Wes's death in December 2016, Grace was moved to Ecumen in North Branch to be closer to her son, Todd. Grace passed away June 27, 2017 at the age of 93.
