Pat Garvin, dies

Patrick T. "Pat" Garvin, 90-year-
old Garvin county pioneer, died at
4:45 a.m. Saturday at Robberson-
Shirley hospital in Wynnewood fol-
lowing a short illness.
Garvin had been in good health
until shortly before his death.
He came to Paoli in 1892 and
moved to the Katie community in
1893. He lived there until his
death.
Garvin was born Nov. 26, 1870
in Texas.
He helped build the Katie school
house and served on the Katie
school board. He was a member
of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2
p.m. Sunday at the Katie church
with Rev. Erby Alexander of Mar-
low officiating. Burial will be in
the Katie cemetery under direction
of Vaughn Funeral Home of El-
more City.
He is survived by four sons,
Leslie "Ted" Urbane and Wood-
row all of Katie, and Bernard of
Oklahoma City; one daughter,
Mrs. Margie Walters of Pernell;
nine grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
