Malley Cye Capps, the s/o Samuel and Julia Ann (Andrews) Capps originally from North Caolina, was born on October 18, 1881 in Dallas County, Texas. The 1900 Census of Dallas County showed his name as "Malachi."

Malley and Ethel Potter, the daughter of Watts Potter and Ellen Beers, were married in 1902 in Dallas County, Texas. Ethel (Potter) Capps died on March 5, 1958 in Dallas and Malley died on March 24, 1963. They are both buried in the old Bennett Cemetery in Balch Springs, Texas. This cemetery is now known as Laurel Oaks Memorial Park.

Last rites were conducted Tuesday at the Anderson-Clayton Funeral Chapel for Malley Cye Capps, Sr., who died Sunday at the age of 83. / The Rev. Louis Hodges officiated at the services and burial was in Laurel Oaks Memorial Park. / Mr. Capps was born in Dallas County and had lived in and near Mesquite all his life. He was a farmer.

His biological parents were Joseph H Harwood who was born on Aug 20 1845 in Rhea County, TN. His mother was "Emma" Emily F Jones born in Texas. When he was six months old his mother died and his father couldn't care for him. It was at this time that he was placed with Samuel and Julia Capps. The adoption was finalized on Feb 1 1889 in Dallas County, TX.

I have a letter from him in 1937 to a relative here in North Carolina in which he states that his adopted dad, Samuel Capps, has died and he enclosed Samuel's death notice.
