This cemetery is now known as Laurel Oaks Memorial Park.

When he was six months old his mother died and his father couldn't care for him. It was at this time that he was placed with Samuel and Julia Capps. The adoption was finalized on Feb 1 1889 in Dallas County, TX.
I have a letter from him in 1937 to a relative here in North Carolina in which he states that his adopted dad, Samuel Capps, has died and he enclosed Samuel's death notice.
