"Michael S Roush was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, May 18, 1827, and departed this life March 13, aged eighty-seven years ten months and five days. When a young man he moved with his parents to Sandusky county, and in 1849 he was married to Sarah Ann Martin, and to this union six children were born, one of whom having preceded him in death. In 1859 he came to this place and a few years later platted the north part of the town, also giving it the name of Freeport. In early life he gave his heart to the Lord, and while in Ohio he was a member of the Evangelical church. After moving here he became a member of the U. B. church. He often spoke of his hope and of the prospect of meeting his faithful wife who was called to her reward in 1903. He leaves to mourn their loss five children, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, one sister and one brother. Funeral services were held in Freeport U.B. church, conducted by the writer. Interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery. F. W. MOXON"
