My Great Aunt Thelma, she was such a wonderful lady! I remember that she would come every year and spend a month with us. She lived in Vale and Brogan, Oregon and we lived in Arroyo Grande, California. She would come to visit her mother and the rest of the family. Her mother, my Great Grandmother, lived in a home on my parents' property. She would stay at her mother's house so I would get to see her every day while she was here. She would knit me these wonderful winter hats made out of colorful yarn. I wish I still had one of those hats now. I do not know what happened to them. Sometimes, you do not realize what treasures people have given you until they are given away. You realize you should have kept them. I believe that Thelma would usually come visit around Thanksgiving or Christmas (as evidence the picture to the top right was taken at Christmastime in 1964 or 1965). In fact, one year I remember in particular was 1972. Thelma was visiting at Christmastime. I remember waking up on the day after Christmas and finding Thelma cooking my siblings and I breakfast instead of my mother and dad. My mother and dad had gone to the hospital because my younger brother was born early that morning! My dad had gone up to my Great Grandmother's house and told Thelma "It's Time" :).

I will always remember Thelma fondly! She was such a wonderful lady!

Thelma's 4th great grandmother was Hannah Boone Stewart Pennington, the sister of Daniel Boone and the wife of John Stewart. Daniel Boone was Thelma's 5th great uncle.
