Calvin Wayne Collins, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully September 2, 2019, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Encompass Home Health and Hospice.

Calvin was born March 1, 1938, in Mancos, Colorado, to George Albert Collins and Effie Purcell Collins. He grew up and attended schools in Colorado and Nebraska. He worked as a rancher and construction worker in his younger years. He also served in the United States Army.

On February 12, 1965, he married Bonnie Ruth Elliott in Riverton, Wyoming. Together, they raised their children, John Michael "Mike," Dale Robert "Bob," Debra Lee "Debbie," James Floyd "Jim," Kimberly Ann "Annie," Daniel Ray, Bruce Wayne, Todd Christopher, and Samantha Kay "Sammy." They lived in Wyoming and then Nevada. In 2017, they moved to Idaho Falls. Bonnie passed away last year and Calvin missed her so much.

He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Reno, Nevada, where he and his wife taught Sunday School. He also performed maintenance there. He attended Gethsemane Baptist Church in Idaho Falls. He was a race car driver and mechanic with his brother, Harvey. They raced the car, "Daddy's Green Monster." He could fix anything. He was a cowboy at heart and loved being a wrangler. He enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhusker football. He loved his family and worked very hard for them, and will be greatly missed.

Calvin is survived by his loving son, Mike (Sandra) Mahan of Reno, NV; son, Bob Mahan of Reno, NV; daughter, Debra (Brett) Hansen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Bruce (Christine) Collins of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Todd Collins of Reno, NV; and daughter, Samantha Brown of Reno, NV; 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Ruth Collins; parents, George and Effie Collins; stepmother, Opal Lowry Collins; son, James Mahan; daughter, Kimberly Mahan; son, Daniel Mahan; grandson, Stacey Hansen; brothers, George Albert Collins and Claude Harvey Collins; and sister, Twila Belle Trimble.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, 12463 East 129 North, with Pastor Matt Swenson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
