Albert was born to Richard and Jane Dawe in Skelton, north Yorkshire, England. He came from a long line of coal miners but was born too late to follow in their footsteps.
His life started in Yorkshire, but by 1901 he'd migrated to Lancashire where most of the work was in manufacturing. He worked as a Cotton Weaver for a time. There was a divinity school in the shire which his younger brother Percy attended. When Albert emigrated with his family in 1912, he is listed as a minister.
Albert had married in 1899. He and his wife Thurza had a son who was eleven when they left England. His brother Percy lived with them for a time. Percy left about just before them. Their older brother had already gone to Canada.
Albert went to western Michigan where he bacame a minister. He met his brother in Union City according to the the passenger manifest. His brother became more prominent, but Albert was content to hold several quiet pastorates.
He retired with Thurza to Dowling.
