Lyn O'Daniel, 81, of Evansville, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Lyn had a long career as an educator beginning in Evansville in 1945, then in Louisville, Ky., then again with Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. from 1969 until her retirement in 1994 at age 68. Lyn taught art at Plaza Park and second grade at Hebron, and will be remembered by her many former students. Lyn enjoyed golfing and she and her husband, Carl, were former members of Oak Meadow Country Club.

Lyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carl F. O'Daniel; daughter, Jill O'Daniel and her husband, Charles King, of Sellersburg, Ind.; son, Rick O'Daniel of Evansville; and granddaughter, Jilliyn O'Daniel of Columbia, S.C.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714, on Tuesday, July 3, 2007.

Funeral services 4 p.m. Tuesday, with Father James Brune and Pastor Dan Albertson officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Cemetery in Valeene, Ind., on Thursday, July 5, 2007.

Lyn loved cats and kittens; contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society, P.O. Box 6711, Evansville, IN 47719, in honor of Lyn. Condolences may be made online at The family would like to thank the employees of River Pointe Health Care Campus for their loving care of Lyn during the past five years.
