Charles Caulkins

NEW PALTZ -- Charles Caulkins, 75, of 45 Millrock Road, died Monday at Mountainside Hospital, Glenridge, N.J. Mr. Caulkins was a boiler-fireman in the heating plant of the State University College at New Paltz before his retirement several years ago. A local resident since 1953, Mr. Caulkins was formerly from Poughkeepsie. He was born in Adams Center (Jefferson County) on July 19, 1904, the son of Forrest F. and Cora Bishop Caulkins. He was married to the former Vera Gordon, who died on Dec. 12, 1970. Mr. Caulkins was a member of the New Paltz Reformed Church. Mr. Caulkins is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Shirley Lay of North Bergen, N.J., and three brothers, Lyle, Gordon and Alfred. Calling hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pine Funeral Home Inc., 124 Main St., New Paltz. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Maris officiating. Burial will be in the Lloyd Cemetery.
