He was married to Lucinda Melinda Mulkey, daughter of David and Melinda Taylor Mulkey, on Aug 31, 1853 in Habersham Co, GA. Served in the Civil War; Company K, 24th Regiment Volunteer Infantry Army of Northern Virginia, Habersham Co, GA, McMillan Guards. Wounded in finger, necessitating amputation at Gettysburg, PA on Jul 3, 1863. Admitted to Receiving & Wayside Hospital #9 at Richmond, VA on Nov 1, 1863. Returned to duty. Wounded in neck, shoulders and arms at Jonesboro, GA on Aug 31, 1864; captured near there on Sep 1, 1864. Exchanged at Rough and Ready, GA on Sep 19, 1864. Captured again and paroled at Andersonville, GA on May 3, 1865.
