Obituary: DIED, Robert T Crowell, In Spirit Lake, Thursday, May 19, R. T. Crowell, aged 78 years, 4 months and 10 days.

R. T. Crowell was born in Newburgh, New York, January 3, 1826. At an early date he came to this state, making his home in Butler county and was the first settler in that country. The first Masonic Lodge in Butler county was organized in his house.

He was united in marriage to Miss Lucretia C. Burton December 24, 1854. To them were born nine children, five of whom are living and mourn the loss of a loving parent. These are: James C., John M., William S., Mrs. Ellen West and Mrs. Emma Arp. The faithful wife, who has been his companion through life, survives, but sees through the glow of life's setting sun the joyful hour of reunion.
Mr. Crowell united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1861, and has ever been a worthy member.

He came to Dickinson county about twenty-three years ago and ten years ago last September moved to Spirit Lake where he made his home until his death. He has been in poor health for several years and death brought a welcome release from physical suffering.

The funeral services held the M. E. church Sunday morning at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. F. Spray, and interment made in Lakeview cemetery.
