Television Pioneer. Born in Madrid, Pedro Amalio López was a co-founder of Spanish Television in 1956 and an award-winning director. He is particularly remembered by his adaptations of famous novels. Pedro Amalio began his career in 1950 as cinema critic and screenwriter, until 1956, when he was a key figure in the development of television in Spain. His many credits include "The Death of a Salesman," "Macbeth," "Julio César," "La Saga de los Rius," "El Conde de Montecristo" and "Las Brujas de Salem." In 1967, he received the Festival of Berlin Prize for his work "Un Mundo sin Luz". Pedro Amalio López was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Television Academy in 1999. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
