Russian Navy Vice Admiral. Born in Buda-Koshelevskaya, Mogilev Governorate, he entered the Soviet Navy in 1925. He participated in the Spanish Civil War and World War II and during his military career, he commanded the Soviet destroyer "Volodarsky", the Baltic Fleet Destroyer Brigade, the Northern Fleet, the Baltic Fleet Light Forces Detachment, and the Baltic Fleet Squadron. He was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner on two separate occasions. He died at the age of 36 when his vehicle fell through the ice between Kronstadt and Leningrad in the Gulf of Finland after a German shell penetrated the ice.
