Admitted to the bar in 1885, and served in a number of New Jersey State offices, most notably as United States Commissioner and Chief Supervisors of Elections for New Jersey from 1892 to 1893. He served as a delegate to the Republican Convention in 1892 and 1896, and served in the New Jersey Legislature from 1892 to 1893. He was then elected as a Republican to represent New Jersey’s 7th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1895 to 1899. He was not re-nominated for another term, and Congressman William D. Daly was subsequently elected to fill the seat. He continued to practice law and engaged in banking until his death in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1926. (bio by: Russ Dodge)
