James Lynn Strait
Birth: Aug. 7, 1968
Manhasset
Nassau County
New York, USA
Death: Dec. 11, 1998
Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara County

James Lynn Strait was born in Manhasset, New York but later moved to Santa Barbara. He was the lead singer, and song writer for an up and coming nu-metal band "Snot" which broke up after a tragic car accident on the Santa Barbara freeway which ended his life, also killed in the accident was his dog dobbs. The dog was on the cover of the band's 1997 Geffen debut album, Get Some which made him the band's mascot. According to California Highway Patrol reports he was traveling from Santa Barbara, CA to Los Angeles and was involved in a six-car crash. The crash ended up on a highway off-ramp. His band "Snot" helped start up a "Nu Metal" genre early in the 90s along with fellow nu metalers "Deftones" and "Korn". He also had a tribute CD called "Strait Up" done by bands such as "Slipknot", "System of a Down", Jonathan Davis, and more. He is also at the end of the CD giving us his outlook on life.
