George Cary Eggleston
Birth: 1839
Death: 1911

Author, Historian. An editor and writer, he is known for providing the inspiration for his brother Edward's 1874 best-seller "The Hoosier Schoolmaster". He served as an officer in the Confederate army during the Civil War, and witnessed the surrender at Appomattox. He wrote the works "A Rebel's Recollection" in 1875, one of the best-known memoirs from the Southern perspective on the War Between the States. (bio by: Joe Fodor)
