Japanese children's literature writer. He is one of the writers from the magazine "Akai Tori(Red bird)", and his masterpiece "Gongitsune(Gon, the little fox) (1932) was first published in this magazine. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 29, so there are not many works by him. In addition to fairy tales, he also wrote nursery rhymes, poems, tanka, haiku, and plays.
