Joshua Marshall, one of the oldest residents of the county, died at his home in Franklin Township, Friday of last week. The cause of his death was heart disease.
Joshua Marshall was of Irish descent, and was born in Surrey county, N.C., in July 1815. At the age of twelve years he removed with his parents to Grayson county, Va. He came to Indiana in 1832 and settled in Henry county, where he remained for sixteen years, removing to Grant county in 1848. He secured a home in Franklin twp., where he has ever since resided. He was married on the 12th of November, 1835 to Miss Tamer Osborn, of Wayne county. To them were born three sons and one daughter. He was again married in November 1876 to Mrs. Charity Ladd, widow of Samuel Ladd. Mr. Marshall's early school training was limited, but he was a close observer of men and events, and kept himself informed on the current questions of the time. He was a man of strict integrity and uprightness, and a consistent member of the Friend's church. Funeral services were held Sunday.
