ROSCOE L DOYLE: New Underwood; 53, died Tues at his home. Military funeral services for Mr Doyle will be held from the Congregational Church at New Underwood tomorrow. Mr Doyle was a member of WB Smith Camp6-United Spanish War Veterans-Rapid City & the camp will have charge of funeral & burial services. Charles Nystrom will lead the services assisted by Andrew Smith, chaplain of the camp. The American Legion will furnish a firing squad; it was stated this morning by Commander Joseph Coursey. Mr Doyle who has been in partially poor health for some time, died of heart failure while playing cards at his home in New Underwood. He operated a hotel & pool hall there & is survived by his wife +11 children. He was a member of Co. M 3rd Nebraska & enlisted at O'Neill NE 27 May 1898. After serving in Cuba, near Havana, he was mustered out at Augusta GA 11 May 1899. Pall bearers will be Spanish American war veterans.

ROSCOE LOREN DOYLE: New Underwood; 53, Military funeral services for Roscoe Doyle, resident of New Underwood were conducted Friday from the New Underwood Congregational Church and burial took place in the cemetery there. Roscoe Doyle was born 9 Feb 1879 at Blue Springs NE and died at New Underwood 22 March aged 53-1-13 days. On 30 Apr 1902 he was united in marriage with Miss Alta Almond. To this union 12 children were born. In 1908 the family moved to Boneita Springs where it resided until 1929 when it moved to New Underwood. Doyle spent about a year in...OBIT HAS LINE MISSING...ican war veteran, being a member of the 3rd NE regiment-Co M. William Smith Camp-6, United Spanish War Veterans-Rapid City, attended the funeral in a body, acting as escort and assisting with services at the graveside. In addition to the widow 11 children survive. They are: Orval, Harry, Robert, Loren, Charles, Dale, Evelyn, Gladys, Velma, Mary & Ruth, Verne-another son-died in infancy. A step-mother, Mrs Ora Doyle, Omaha and 2 brothers and 8 sisters also survive. Interment was made in the New Underwood cemetery. Mr. Doyle spent about a year in the war of 1898 and saw service in Cuba near Havana. Pallbearers, members of the firing squad and the bugler were named.
