Forest Iles Melton, son of Frank M and Eliza Ellen Melton, was born Oct. 26, 1887. in Mason County, Ill. He died in the Memorial Hospital in Butler, Mo., Oct. 19, 1953, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 24 days. He moved with his parents to Mason City when he was 15 years old where he grew to manhood and finished his education, teaching school there. In March 1908, he came with the family to Missouri, settling on a farm at Archie. He was married September 5, 1911, to Mary Frances Hoffman of Archie. Two children were born to this union, Zelma Orene and Robert Carrol. He moved with his family to a farm west of Adrian where he resided for about 25 years and spent most of his life farming in the Buckhorn community. He leaves his wife and son of the home. Two sisters, Mrs. Eve P. Hoffman of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Grace L. Westhoff of Archie; one brother, Owen J. Melton of Springfield, Mo., and a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and his daughter. Funeral services were held October 21 at 2 p.m. in the Adrian Methodist Church with Rev. Ernest White and Rev. Holland officiating. Burial was in the Crescent Hill Cemetery.
