Death certificate #9132 for Gilbert Washington Pullen, signed by S.A. Pullen (assumed to be son, Samuel, whose MI was "D" ?), gives COD as heart disease and astio sclerosis. Burial was to be March 21 at Forbes. Father is listed as Gilbert, maiden name of mother "unable to find out" and her first name wasn't entered.
In 1866 several men met and organized the Oak Hill Cemetery Association. Gilbert W Pullen was the president of the association which bought a tract of 3 acres a mile north of Forbes for a cemetery. They bought the tract from George Meyer and wife. It became the Oak Hill Cemetery. In 1955 Clarance Harper and James Fitzgerald formed the Forbes Cemetery Association. The name was changed to Forbes Cemetery probably because everyone called it that anyway. (Thanks to Michael Jackson for this information.)
