Birth: May 25, 1896
Cedar County
Iowa, USA
Death: Oct. 29, 1972
Pierce County
Washington, USA

Beatrice G. Lee was the daughter of Walter and Alma Lee, living in Tipton, Iowa. Bea, had one brother Charles Emerson Lee.

Bea married first George Martus the 7th of November, 1917 in Huron South Dakota. They had one child Nancy Francis Martus.

Bea and George divorced. Bea worked for a time as a bookkeeper. She and her baby daughter Nancy lived with Bea's father and mother in Huron.

Later she met and married Mr. Clarence W. Sangster. The Sangster's were in the fuel oil business for quite some time until the depression and poor health of Clarence, forced them to seek better opportunities on the West Coast. Clarence had a very bad accident delivering fuel oil in one of their trucks which just about killed him. After the accident he suffered a series of heart attacks. The doctors at the time felt his heart condition would be improved if he moved out of the Midwest.

They first moved to the Portland Oregon area where they managed apartment housing. After their daughter Nancy met and married Harry C. Wassman they moved to Tacoma, Washington to be close to Nancy. Clarence continued to manage apartments until he became the supervisor of custodians for the Tacoma News Tribune and the local TV station. He worked there until he retired.

Bea was pretty much a stay at home grandma and a wonderful one at that. She and Clarence lived only a few houses down from Nancy and Harry in Puyallup on 4th avenue. Both Bea and Clarence lived there for the rest of their lives. Bea did work most summers in the local canneries, processing berries and other crops produced in the Puyallup valley.

Beatrice's greatest pleasure in the last years of her life was taking care of her great grandchildren. She looked forward each day to babysitting them and playing with those children.

She was a kindly real lady. She lived a good life and was an inspiration to us all. God Bless you Grandma Bea.
