Sarah Meade Dorsey
December 29, 1895 to February 12, 1995
Sarah Meade Dorsey, 99, of Berryville, died Sunday. Feb. 12, at Westminster-Canterbury in Winchester.
Mrs. Dorsey was born Dec. 29, 1895, in Clarke County, near Berryville, the daughter of Elizabeth Russell Crown Meade and David Randolph Meade. Although several of her youthful years were spent in Texas, Missouri and Colorado, she lived her adult life in her beloved Clarke County, where she nurtured her love of family and local history.
She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church, the Clarke County Historical Association and was a charter member of the Town and Country Garden Club. In 1920, she married Berryville native Ralph N. Dorsey, who died in 1990 at the age of 95.
Surviving are two sons, R. Meade Dorsey of Shepherdstown, W.Va. and Joseph P. Dorsey of Winchester; seven grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.
A memorial service in Grace Episcopal Church in Berryville is scheduled for noon on Thursday, Feb. 18. Private graveside services will be held in Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville, at the convenience of the family, with arrangements by Enders Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwight Brown will conduct both services.
