Mrs. Evvie (Jo) Beard age 76 of Lufkin, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 in the Parkwood Place Nursing Home in Lufkin. Mrs. Beard was born September 20, 1930 in Crockett and was a resident of Parkwood Place Nursing Home in Lufkin. Mrs. Beard was retired having worked as a nurse's aide and was also a housewife. Mrs. Beard attended the Kelty's Methodist Church in Lufkin.
Survivors include her daughter Sue Morgan and husband Ray, of Lufkin; grandchildren Rodney Leatherwood, Charlie Stephan Beard, Sherry Lynn Hamlin and husband Kindal, of Santa Fe, N. M., Lori Ann Brown and husband Donald, of Lufkin, Michael Baldwin Beard and wife Vanessa, of Nacogdoches, LaTisha Marie Lane and husband John, of Lufkin, Carl Wayne Beard, of Pittsburg; great-grandchildren Meredith Sheree Allbright, Michele Brown, Morgan Raeanne Brown, Jordan Beard, Malori Kaitlyn Brown, Tyler Sage Hamlin; twin sister Effie (Billie) Self, of Kountze; sister-in-law Mary Rider, of Palestine; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roy and Polly Beard, of Crockett; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Evvie (Jo) Beard were held Thursday, April 26, at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Jacquelyn Snarr and the Reverend Ottis Byers officiating. Interment followed in the New Energy Cemetery.
