Needham on November 5, 1862 in Polk County, Missouri. Matilda was 7 months pregnant with their 11th child when John died. Among their children were: Laura Alice and Henry Nelson Needham.
When her youngest daughter Orpha married, Matilda lived with her in Collin County, Texas.
Ten years after John died Matilda filed for a widow's pension for John's Civil War service. The pension was for $25 a month.
There is a stone for Matilda in the Davis Cemetery where John is buried. It only has her initials with no dates.
