Marie E. Jamieson, 83, of Elgin, passed away Monday, June 4, 2007 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born on May 6, 1924 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of Walter and Amanda Sorensen.

Marie, along with her family, lived in Plato Center and graduated from Plato Center High School in 1941. After completing Ellis Business College, she worked at the Case Factory. After marriage, she became a homemaker until working at Elgin Wiring and Fixtures for over twenty years prior to her retirement. Marie volunteered with the Boy and Girl Scouts, and enjoyed being a Literacy Volunteer at Illinois Park School. Marie also loved playing cards with her card club for over fifty years.

Marie was an active member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Elgin.

Survivors include her husband, Myron "Jamie" Jamieson whom she married on April 10, 1948; her three children, Dale (Kathleen) Jamieson of Shawnee, KS, Sheryl (Andrew) Flores of Elgin, and Douglas (DaNell) Jamieson of Geneva, IL; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Elizabeth, Corbin, Anna, Marybeth, Audrey, and John; three great grandchildren; her sister, Louise (Reynold) Knickrehm of Minnesota; her daughter-in-law, Angel Jamieson of Sycamore, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Jamieson; and two brothers, Carl and Fredrick Sorensen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Trail, Elgin, IL, 60123, with Rev. Steve Srock officiating. Burial will be private in Plato Center Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 4-8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services.

Memorials may be made to the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Cancer Care Center or the Church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
