Ralph George Davis Jr., 80, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. James E. Garrett, senior minister, officiating. Entombment will be in Llano Mausoleum by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.

Mr. Davis was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Norman, Okla., to Ralph George Davis Sr. and Neta Sauls Davis. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School and received his bachelor of science degree from West Texas State Teachers College in 1943. He was elected Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities during his junior and senior years at WTSTC.

Mr. Davis married Ellen Josephine Reynolds on May 22, 1943, in Dalhart. He was a major in the Marine Corps for four years. He worked in retail auto sales with Don McMillan Ford in Amarillo for five years before joining Loewenstern Co., working there for 18 years. In 1975 he formed his own company, Ralph G. Davis Inc. Realtor.

A member of the Amarillo Board of Realtors, he had served as secretary, treasurer, director of the board, and was president in 1974. He was a member of the Professional Standards Committee for 10 years, director of the Texas Association of Realtors for eight years and the Texas License Law Committee for eight years. Mr. Davis was named "Realtor of the Year" in 1975.

Mr. Davis served as secretary/treasurer for West Texas State University Basketball Cager Club for many years and was a member of the WTSU Alumni Association and University Football Quarterback Club. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Homebuilders Sunday school class.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Gordon Davis; a sister, LaRita Johnson; and by a brother, Clifford M. Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Josephine Davis, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bill Clifton of Childress; a son, Manley Davis of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Shane Anthony and his wife, Paige of Corinth, Wendy Anthony of Denton, Brett Davis of Lubbock and Bryan Davis of Canyon; and two great-grandsons, Austin and Jake Anthony.

The family suggests memorials be to Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106; or the West Texas A&M Cager Club.

The family will be at 3522 Plum Lane.
