Charles L. Mark was born at Greencastle, Ind. April 19, 1861. He came to Kansas with his parents at the age of 4 years. They settled in Pottawatomie Co. Ks. and lived there until 1896. He married November 15, 1885 to Clara V. Raines. To this union were born 5 children, all of whom and his wife survive him. He passed away March 9, 1919 at his home 3 miles west of Meriden, at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 20 days.
The children are, Mrs. Anna Brown, and Mrs. Dessie Grimes, both of Meriden, Ks; Frank Mark with the Army of occupation in Germany, Ethel and Eugene Mark, both at home, besides he leaves on sister, Mrs. P. G. (Sarah) Etchinson of Santa Ana, Calif; 2 brothers Joseph Mark, of Kingfisher, Okla; James T. Mark of Manhattan, Ks, and Elmer Mark of Augusta, Kans.
He was taken to his old home and buried in the Moodyville Cemetery, where his father, mother and other relatives and friends are buried. Rev. W. L. Martin, pastor of the Congressional church in Westmoreland preached the funeral sermon to a large number of neighbors and friends.
