| Birth: | Sep. 22, 1515 | | Death: | Jul. 16, 1557 | English Monarch. Queen of England, fourth wife of Henry VIII. Theirs was a purely political marriage, neither having any real affection for the other. Henry saw only a portrait of her, and agreed to marry her sight unseen. He was disappointed with the reality that she was a simple, domestic woman who was ill-suited to life in Henry's court of art and music (Henry referred to her as the "Flanders Mare"). Henry soon fell for another young beauty, and political tensions with Germany were increasing, so Henry sought divorce. Anne did not stand in his way, and maintained that the marriage had not been consummated. They were divorced six months after the marriage. Henry treated her kindly, giving her the title of King's Sister, several houses including Hever Castle, the former home of Anne Boleyn, an annual income, and frequently invited her to court as an honoured guest. Anne lived the rest of her life quietly and comfortably in England, and died at the age of 42. (bio by: VampireRed)
