Mr. Eakins was born March 28, 1936, in Harveysburg, to the late Raymond Eakins and Sarah Fairchild Eakins. He was a retired power operator for Lockheed-Martin at Piketon. Mr. Eakins had served in the National Guard.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Eakins is survived by a son, of New Vienna; two daughters; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers; and two sisters.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Beaver Union Cemetery, with the Rev. Ronald Hines officiating. Friends may call at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME in Waverly, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Ohio, 1805 27th St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.
