Fred M. Eakins, 66, of Beaver Pike Road in Waverly, Pike County, died 10:45 a.m. Saturday (March 1, 2003) at his home. His wife, Carol McKenzie Givens Eakins, survives. They were married May 24, 1985.
Mr. Eakins was born March 28, 1936, in Harveysburg, to the late Raymond Eakins and Sarah Fairchild Eakins. He was a retired power operator for Lockheed-Martin at Piketon. Mr. Eakins had served in the National Guard.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Eakins is survived by a son, of New Vienna; two daughters; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers; and two sisters.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Beaver Union Cemetery, with the Rev. Ronald Hines officiating. Friends may call at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME in Waverly, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
