San Juan Capistrano
Actor. He is best remembered for his role as ‘Harry Burns' in the television series "My Favorite Martian" (1963 to 1964), and for his cartoon vocalizations, such as that of the ‘Colonel' in the Disney cartoon movie, "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" (1961), and of ‘Colonel Hathi' in the Disney cartoon movie "The Jungle Book" (1967). Born in Burnley, England, he was affectionately known as "J. Pat" to his friends (also to avoid confusion with actor Pat O'Malley), and began his acting career in British musical halls. Coming to America just before World War II broke out, his first film debut was in "Lassie Come Home" (1943). Besides films, he also worked on the Broadway stage during the 1940s and 1950s. He played many guest appearance roles in television sitcoms and dramas for the next 30 years, where he mostly played elderly uncle or grandfather type roles, making over 100 appearances. He also worked in radio, due to his versatile voice, and provided many vocal characterizations for animated cartoons. He died suddenly in San Juan Capistrano, California, where the cause of death was determined to be a heart condition.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
