Dwain was born on August 15, 1930 at the family home in rural Herman, Nebraska to August and Lydia Jordan. He attended the New England Country School through the 10th grade and then attended and graduated from Herman High School in 1947. After high school, Dwain began farming.
On March 19, 1950 he was united in marriage to Jean Hovendick in Tekamah. They were blessed with two children.
In 1952 Dwain was called to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Dwain returned to the farm. Dwain then continued to farm in Washington county for the next 11 years. In 1962 the family moved to Burt County, Nebraska where Dwain continued to farm.
Over the years Dwain was an active member of the community, serving many years with Production Credit Association, Rural Water Service Board, Burt County Swine, Herman Federated Church Board, Herman Community Church Board, (he was very proud to be a large part of joining the two churches into the Herman Community Church), Herman Masonic Lodge, Herman American Legion and the Summit Township Board.
Dwain loved music and sang in the church choir; he was also a Sunday school teacher for many years. Dwain was a dedicated farmer who loved his job. He was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt and fish with his family.
Dwain Allen Jordan, age 88 of Herman, passed away December 4, 2018 at Fremont Health in Fremont, Nebraska.
Left to honor his memory are his wife; children: Greg (Georgia) Jordan and Kent (Allison) Jordan of Herman; grandchildren: Randy (Mel) Mastin, Amy (Chris Wahl) Mastin, Brad (Shana) Jordan, Amanda (Ross) Kessler, Kyle Jordan, and Elizabeth Jordan; great-grandchildren: Wade Kessler and Madison Rose Kessler; sister-in-law Ione (Omar) Kauffeld and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin Jordan, sister-in-law Donna Rae, infant siblings and nephew Jeff Jordan.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Blair, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 9 from 5 to 7 PM with a Masonic service at 7 PM at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. The family requests that memorials in his name be given to the First United Methodist Church of Blair, Masonic Lodge of Herman, Herman American Legion. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.
