"David P. Andrews, deceased, was born in Madison county, New York, on the 17th of July, 1815, and was a son of Ambrose and Hannah (Phelps) Andrews. He was reared a farmer, and pursued that calling during life. His parents removed to Ohio when he was quite young, and from thence to Illinois, settling in Newell township, near Bismark, in 1829.

On the 14th of July, 1848, Mr. Andrews was married to Rhoda Zumwalt, who was born on the 21st of February, 1818. He led a successful life, and acquired the respect and confidence of the community. He died on the 17th of February, 1879, leaving four children: Dewit C., born Apr. 20, 1849; James A., June 3, 1850; Charles R., Apr. 26, 1853, and Clara J., June 25, 1858.
