Helen Marie Bridges of Gaston died Nov. 14, 2002 at Tuality Commumty
Hospital, Hillsboro. She was 83.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held Nov. 18 at Forest Grove Memorial
Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 19 at St. Anthony Catholic
Church, Forest Grove, with the Rev. William Holzinger celebrant.
Burial rites and interment followed at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Forest Grove
Mrs. Bridges was born Feb. 10. 1919 in Forest Grove. 'the daughter of
Henry and Adalaide (Kersten) Van Dyke. She received her early educa-
tion at Visitation School, Verboort, later graduating from Forest Grove High School.
She Married Joseph Leo Bridges on Sept. 2, 1946 in Forest Grove. Following
their wedding they made their home in Gaston. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Catholic faith, having attended St. Anthony Parish
in Forest Grove where she was active in the Altar Society and helped with
the luncheons at the church.
Her interests included flowers, sewing, crafts, cooking and baking.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a daughter.
Survivors include her husband Joseph Bridges of Gaston; sons Kenneth
Bridges of Everett. Wash, and Jerry Bridges of Forest Grove; daughter Donna
DuPont of Cocoa Beach, Florida; son-in-law Tom Harpole of Lake Oswego;
two granddaughters, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions made in her
memory to the Alzheimer's Assn.
