Rolon Roy Gragg


Mr. Rolon Roy Gragg, 69, of Fir Street, Hudson, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 18, 2007, at his residence.

He was born July 2, 1937, in Caldwell County to the late Sanford Robert Gragg and Edna Mae Raby Gragg.

Mr. Gragg was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church and was employed by Fairfield Chair Co. for over 50 years, where he was known as "Elvis" by his friends and co-workers.

n addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Garland Gragg, Burl Gragg and Bill Gragg, and a sister, Corie Ann Gragg.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Hagaman Gragg of the home; a daughter, Jean G. Watts and husband, William Richard "Rick," of Patterson; two granddaughters, Melissa C. Watts and Julia W. Clark and husband, Jeff; three grandsons, William Jack, Robert and wife, Della, and Jonathan Watts; four great-granddaughters, Kayla and Kay Watts and Hayley and Anna Clark; three great-grandsons, Brandon, Travis and Dallas Watts; six brothers, Fred Robert Gragg and wife, Ruth, and Eddie Gragg and wife, Kathy, all of Hickory, and Jay Gragg and wife, Colleen, Luther Gragg and wife, Maggie, Sam Gragg and wife, Donna, and Frank Gragg, all of Hudson; two sisters, Mary Lou Poore and husband, Dean, of Sawmills and Ruth Smith and husband, Larry, of Hudson; two sisters-in-law, Willa Grey Gragg and Doris Gragg, both of Hudson; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends at Fairfield Chair Co. and Mount Hermon United Methodist Church; and lifelong family friend, Mr. Paul "Tub" Sigmon.

A celebration of life for Mr. Gragg will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Mackie-High Chapel, with the Revs. Jonathan Brake and Sarah Fouts officiating.

Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.

The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Mackie-High Funeral Home, Granite Falls, from 7 to 9 p.m. Pallbearers will be Terry Gragg, Tommy Gragg, Keith Gragg, Shannon Hagaman, Jonathan Gragg, Alan Gragg, and Ronnie "Satch" Gragg. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul "Tub" Sigmon, Joseph Mikeal, Brandon Triplett, B.J. Moretz and Jeff Clark.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, 2695 Alfred Hartley Road, Lenoir, N.C. 28645; Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., NW, Lenoir, N.C. 28645; and/or The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, www.brpfoundation.org /honors.php.
