Husband of Mary D. (Campagna) and father of Carol, Irene, Diane, June, John, Kevin, and Henry A. Goveia Jr. Four step-children; Albert, Stephen, Robert, Joseph, and Christine. He was a son of John and Della (Picanso) Goveia. He was raised in Somerville, but lived the greater part of his life in Tewksbury. He moved to Lowell in 1995.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Before retiring, he worked as a driver for the B.N. Corkum Trucking Company in Wilmington, and was a member of AFL-CIO Teamsters Local 25.
He was a former member of both the Billerica and Lowell Elks.
