BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services celebrating the life of Jimmie N. Robertson, "Memaw," will be held Tuesday, May 22, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City. Officiating will be Dr. Cliff Estes, pastor of Waller Baptist Church. Interment will follow in HillCrest Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Robertson, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, May 19, 2007. Recently, while battling congestive heart failure, she often spoke of her desire to be with Jesus and her loved ones there, but not wanting to leave her beloved sister, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren here.
She was born in Heflin, Louisiana on January 1, 1923 to Rush and Dallie Nelson. It was there that she met and married the love of her life O.D. Robertson. After living in San Antonio for several years, they moved to Bossier City, Louisiana. She made their home on Many Street a place where everyone felt loved and included. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and always had enough food and love to share at family dinners for anyone extra that came.
Mrs. Robertson was a long-time member of Waller Baptist Church, where she was an active member of her Sunday School class, and the Golden Pioneers. She dearly loved her many friends there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a nephew Kim Stafford.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Marnelle Stafford and husband Bill; her son Jerry Robertson and wife Patti; her daughter Vicki Sawyer and husband Kenny; her granddaughter Lisa Ward and husband John; her grandson Derek Sawyer and his fiance' Colby Bird; her great-grandchildren Jonathan and Ashley Ward and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and precious friends.
Pallbearers will be Joe Lachle Jr., Carlos Meza, Bruce Rohrer, Kyle Sawyer, Barry Teague, and John Ward.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waller Baptist Church, 456 Waller Ave. Bossier City, LA 71112; St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71211.
