Nancy Caroline Ferguson King was the daughter of James Alexander and Nancy Caroline Henry Ferguson. (Nancy was the daughter of John and Nancy Caroline Henry) Their children were Nancy Caroline and Pleasant Miller Ferguson. James Alexander served in the War of 1812 under Andrew Jackson. He was a wagonmaster. He died near Jasper, Tennessee in 1825. His father James Alexander Ferguson Sr. was an American Patriot during the Revolutionary War. He had a farm near Kings Mountain South Carolina. He and his two sons Moses and William served under Col. Frances Marion "The Swamp Fox" in South Carolina. James Alexander Sr. and his wife were murdered by Tories during the war. James Alexander Jr. and his younger sister were adopted by his older brother Moses. Nancy Caroline Ferguson married Carter Beverly King July 24, 1836 in Spring Place, Georgia. Carter Beverly was the son of John and Elizabeth Horden King. John was the son of Henry "Harry" and Bettie Brown King. John King served under General Coffey in the Creek and Indian War. He was in all the engagements under General Andrew Jackson (with Davy Crockett and Sam Houston) until the Battle of Horseshoe Bend where he was wounded in a cavalry charge, but he set his horse until the battle was over and fought in the front rank. Harry King was an American Patriot serving in Virginia. In 1846 Carter Beverly and his family and his father John King moved to Texas and settled on Horse Creek in Titus county. Carter and Nancy had the following children, Harriet Jane, John Henry,(9th Texas Infantry CSA), James H., Charles Wesley (9th Texas Infantry CSA), William M., Andrew J., Samuel M., Corten B., and Martha C. Carter Beverly died in Titus County, Texas May 19, 1863. Carter B. and Nancy Caroline were the Great grandparents of noted author Ben King Green.
