Virginia Ann "Ginny" (Lippincott) Beck, 88

January 4, 1930 ~ November 8, 2018

Virginia Ann was born to E. Clark and Ethel (Anderson) Lippincott on Jan. 4, 1930, on the family farm five miles north of Blair, Nebraska. Her family were early pioneer residents of Washington County, Nebraska.

Ginny Beck, 88, passed peacefully from this world on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Her cause of death was a severe brain injury caused by a fall due to an unfortunate collision in the assisted living unit where she was currently residing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chaplain John T. Beck, Capt. USN, three years earlier.

Left to cherish her memory are her two brothers, Tom and Bill Lippincott and her sister, Pat Hunsche, all of whom currently reside in Washington County, Nebraska. She is also survived by her son, John T. Beck 2nd and his wife Julie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter Barbara Meduna and her husband Don of Colorado Springs, Colo; and son, Eric Beck and his wife Kerry of Twenty-nine Palms, Calif. Additionally, Ginny is survived by four grandchildren: Dana Tucker and her husband Mike of Colorado Springs, Colo., Erica Leu and her husband Aaron of Austin, Texas, John Louis Beck of Bellevue, and Maria Beck of Norfolk. Both Virginia and her husband John very much loved and enjoyed their three great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jacob and Aiden, living in Austin, Texas, and Colorado Springs, Colo.

Virginia attended a small one-room country school, Pleasant View Dist. #13, which was a half mile north of the family farm. There were only two students in her age class. After grade school, she attended Blair, Nebraska High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. She enjoyed high school and all her new friends in town, was in a class play or two and was a good student. She continued her education at Dana College in Blair for two years, taking a commercial course. Before her marriage, she went to work in Omaha, Nebraska for Bell Telephone Company, living with her aunt, Flora Anderson, in Florence, Nebraska.

She first met her future husband John at Dana College. At the time they were both working for food services in the old Argo Hall at Dana. They quickly became good friends. They were married on July 20, 1950, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

The newlyweds moved to Norfolk, Nebraska where John taught high school. In 1952, John was called to the ministry and he and Virginia returned to Blair where John enrolled in Trinity Seminary, associated with Dana College.

In 1955, John was ordained at First Lutheran Church in Fremont, Nebraska and received his commission as a Navy Chaplain. He and Virginia both left to "see the world" together.

For the next 20 years, Ginny and her children faithfully followed her husband's many duty assignments across the country and around the world.

In 1978, she and John returned home to Blair where John worked at Dana College in Development and Church Relations until his retirement. In 2011, John and Virginia relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be near two of their three children.

Ginny enjoyed working with her hands creating many beautiful heirlooms for her family. She loved quilting, cross stitching and her many sewing and craft projects which are treasured by her friends and family.

Always kind and compassionate, Ginny was a wonderful wife to John, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her loving family. She was the sweetest, gentle most caring person we have ever known. During her time in Colorado, she extended that love to her fellow residents at the Liberty Heights retirement community where she spent her final years brightening the lives of the many residents. She will be so deeply missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. This will be preceded with a brief graveside service at the Blair Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

In honor of Ginny's life, her family has asked that memorial donations be sent to either the Springs Rescue Mission (www.springsrescuemission.org) or to the Danish American Archives and Library, 1738 Washington St., Blair, NE 68008.
