George Taggart Whitney, 70, died December 7, 1993 in a local hospital.

Born September 4, 1923 in Cowley, Wyoming to Francis David and Nettie Taggart Whitney, he was the 10th of their 11 children. He served as a supply sergeant in Anchorage, Alaska during World War II. He played the piano for the Carrol Whalen Orchestra and Dance Band until his marriage to Elisabeth Strom on April 11, 1949. His happiest years were spent working with the wonderful people at the University of Utah Medical Center from which he retired. As a member of the LDS Church, he served in several teaching positions and was throughout his life, the epitome of generosity and Christ like love.

He is survived by his three children, Stieg, Kent, and Malcolm, all of the Salt Lake area; five sisters, 10 grandchildren, and a vast number of friends and admirers.

Funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m. at the Lake Ridge 10th Ward, 3830 South 8000 West, where friends may call Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Pleasant Green Cemetery.

Funeral directors, Peel Funeral Home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lake Ridge 10th Ward for George Whitney.
