Sylva - Eloise Ensley Snipes, 85, of Grandview Heights, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at Harris Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Jackson County where she had lived most of her life; she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; a member of New Hope Baptist Church; she was a avid Atlanta Braves fan and flower gardener; she was an administration assistant with Western Carolina University; daughter of the late Erastus and Rebecca Cope Ensley; preceded in death by her husband, Willie Max Snipes who died in 1975; one daughter, Billie Jefferson; one son, Troy Snipes; one granddaughter, Melissa Tarr; two brothers, Rosevelt Ensley and Dennis Ensley; and one sister, Virgie Sellers.
Surviving is one son, Eddie Snipes of Sylva; two sisters, Fannie B. Painter and Loretta Sluder, both of Sylva; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Melton-Riddle Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mike Moore and Earl Holden officiating. Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Enka.
