EAKINS. – Suddenly, on the 5th inst., Rev. DAVID W. EAKINS, Chaplain U. S. Army, in the 62d year of his age.
The relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from the residence of his brother, Wm. H. Eakins, No. 714 E. Twenty-first street, this (Tuesday) afternoon, at 2 o'clock. Interment at Mount Moriah.
Rev. David attended Lafayette College 1839; graduated from the College of NJ in 1844; graduated at Princeton Theological Seminary NJ in 1847; licensed by the Presbytery of Phila., PA on 4-9-1848; ordained by the same as an Evangelist; Foreign Missionary to the Creek Indians, fighting the Comanche. After preaching and teaching in TX until 1863, he became Chaplin of NJ State Prison. In 1865-69 he was fighting the Plains Indians. While visiting his brother, Wm. H. Eakins in Phila. PA, he suddenly died.
