Eliza Jane Laughlin was born at Cincinnati, Ohio, April 29, 1842, and died at her home in Herman October 14, 1925, thus making her age 83 years, 5 months and 15 days.
At the age of two years she moved with her parents to Dearborn Co., Indiana.
She was married to Huit Lowe January 9, 1861 and in August 1869, she, with her husband, moved to Marion Co., Iowa, from there they moved to Burt Co., Nebr., in the year 1882. She made her home on a farm here until seventeen years ago when she moved to Herman and had lived here up to the time of her death. Mr. Lowe passed away in 1911.
To this union were born 11 children, 4 daughters and 7 sons. Two of the daughters, Marietta and Flora, preceded their mother in death while they were young in years. The children who survive are James D., Geo., Forest W., Herman, Nebr., Mrs. Minerva Carter, Blair, Nebr., Huit Lowe, Herman, Nebr., Ollie Lowe, Arlington, Nebr., Will Lowe of Herman, Nebr., John Lowe, Waterloo, Iowa and Maggie Lowe, Herman, Nebr.
She had been a member of the Presbyterian church at Tekamah for a great many years and all who knew her found her trying to exemplify in her life the love she had for her Savior. She was active in church work and a faithful attendant at Sunday School and other services of the church as long as she was able to attend and by her willingness to help. She was loved and respected by scores of friends and neighbors.
She leaves to mourn her loss beside her nine children, 32 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
