MCCULLOUGH-FITZHUGH, Gladys Edna HamlinAge 98, of Nashville, passed away July 1, 2010. She was born in New London, CT, graduated from Wheeling High, Wheeling, WV where she was a star basketball and tennis player, two sports she dearly loved. During World War II, she served in the Women's Air Corps, achieving the rank of sergeant. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 54 years where she was a member of the Good Samaritan Class, Changing Gears, the Women's Circle, the Bridge Group, and a member of the Robert Cooke Chapter of the D.A.R. She was part of a large and loving family, one of thirteen children born to Alice Leah Crocker and Sherman Douglas Hamlin. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Edward McCullough and Henry Alexander Fitzhugh; daughter, Leah Rae Amrit, and son, Douglas Edward McCullough. She is survived by daughter, Martha Karen McCullough Lovell and son-in-law, James Ronald Lovell of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Carol Jean McCullough Dufala and son-in-law, David Kreig Dufala of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and seven brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. Memorial Service at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Ave., Nashville, TN 37205. Associate Pastor Carson L. Salyer will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
