Misty was born March 14, 1975, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Kenneth William Barker and Tommari Dale Sorensen. She grew up and attended schools in Utah and graduated from Emery High School.
On June 1, 1991, she married Gary Willard Young in Huntington, Utah. They were blessed with six daughters, Kelsey, Whitney, Carlie, Desiree, Haylee, and Sierra. Misty and Gary made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Misty spent the majority of her life raising her family.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a very charitable, meek, humble wife and mother who was always there for her children and husband. Because she was so understanding and accepting of others, she was a great friend to many. She enjoyed nature, camping, taking drives in the mountains, rain, crafting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Misty is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Gary Young; daughters, Kelsey (Bronson) Hunt, Whitney (Craig) Guymon, Carlie (Rhett) Rumsey, Desiree (Kaden) Johnson, Haylee Young, and Sierra Young; grandchildren, Aspen Hunt, Brooklynn Guymon, Rosie Hunt, Hallie Guymon, and Ellie Rumsey; father, Kenneth Barker; mother, Tommari Sorensen; sister, Lacie (Jason) Mecham; father-in-law, Willard John Young; sisters-in-law, Suzanne (Troy) Anderson, Laurie (Eric) Gravatt, and Karryn Birch; and grandmothers, Mary Lee Taylor and Donna Rae Barker.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Geary Taylor, Joe Barker, and Thomas Rex Dale; great grandparents, Jestin and Donna Anderson; and mother-in-law, Melva Jean Young.
