Roy was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnathan Mote. He Married Rosa Ethel Brown Sept. 21, 1913 in Young County. He and his family lived near Graham for a number of years before moving to California where they lived for 18 years. He returned to the Graham area in 1961. He and Ethel resided on Belknap Road where they owned and operated Mote's Fruit and Berry Farm.

Inscription on headstone above name, "The Planter'. Inscription below name "Oh Lord, teach these souls that are in bondage how to pray".

Children--Ruth, Faye, R.D. Jr., Billy
